It is considered that the form and design of the proposed garage will have an adverse impact on the main dwelling by reason of its bulky and horizontal emphasis and bland and utilitarian design which is unsympathetic to the character and appearance of the main house. The proposal is contrary to policy H9 of the North York Moors Local Plan which requires that proposals for the erection of curtilage buildings do not cumulatively or individually detract from the character and appearance of the main dwelling and its location and are acceptable in terms of scale, height, form, positioning, design detailing and type of materials.
