The local planning authority consider that the proposed use of uPVC replacement windows would harm the visual amenities of the property and this part of the Scalby Conservation Area. As such the proposal is considered to be contrary to the provisions of Policy BE1 of the North York Moors Local Plan which states that priority will be given to proposals which preserve or enhance the character and appearance of Conservation Areas and places particular emphasis on the use of traditional design and materials.
