The Local Planning Authority considers the intensification of use of this prominent field adjacent to the boundary of the Conservation Area for car parking will be seriously detrimental to the visual character of this open area of land which is important to the character of Robin Hoods Bay. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policies GP3 and T8 of the Local Plan which seek to only approve additional car parking where it does not have a detrimental effect on the character of the area and cultural heritage of the National Park.
The proposal would encourage more cars to enter and use the narrow roads in the Robin Hoods Bay Conservation Area. Such an increase in traffic wouldnot preserve or enhance the character of the Conservation Area and so be contrary to Policy BE1 of the North York Moors Local Plan.
The Local Planning Authority does not consider it has been shown that this proposal forms part of an integrated approach to traffic management which is required to solve existing parking problems or which will be of benefit to the local community. The proposal would, therefore, be contrary to Policy T8 of the North York Moors Local Plan.
The proposed development will generate additional traffic on the unadopted access road and at its junction with the county road constituting a material increase in the volume of traffic entering the county road at a junction which has inadequate width and radius to safely provide for this increased use without detriment to the safety and convenience of present users of the county road. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policy T8 of the Local Plan.
