The proposed extension by reason of its scale, massing and form is considered to have an unsympathetic and adverse impact on the character and appearance of the host property. The scale and proportions of the proposed extension would lead to the extension dominating the appearance and character of this vernacular property to the detriment of the special qualities and landscape character of this part of the National Park. The proposal is therefore contrary to saved Policies BE6 and H8 of the North York Moors Local Plan which states that extension should respect, enhance and be subservient to the character and appearance of the host building.
