In the view of the Local Planning Authority the proposed conservatory would conceal the most historic and most interesting elevation within this listed building, and this, combined with its poor detailing, bulk and the untraditionally low roof pitch would totally undermine the linear character of this building and its significance as an 18th century longhouse. The proposal would therefore cause unacceptable harm to the character of the host dwelling and designated heritage asset, contrary to Development Policies 5 and 19 of the North York Moors Local Development Framework.
